Bayside Aero is the operating name of R and D Aviation Incorporated, a company with roots in Ontario aviation maintenance spanning nearly three decades. Founded by Ron and Deb Mercer, the business built its reputation by providing dependable maintenance services for both privately owned and commercially registered aircraft throughout Southwestern Ontario. In 2010, the company’s primary base of operations was relocated to the Grey-Bruce region, and the business was formally incorporated in 2019.
In 2023, the name Bayside Aero was introduced to reflect the company’s continued growth and its home along the beautiful shoreline of Georgian Bay. Today, Bayside Aero operates from Meaford International Airport (CYOS), serving aircraft owners and operators across Grey-Bruce, Southwestern Ontario, and beyond. Conveniently located for visiting aircraft, the company welcomes customers who fly in from across the province for trusted maintenance support and personalized service.
Bayside Aero is focused on the future of aircraft maintenance, investing in modern systems, digital technical records, and smarter ways to support customer aircraft ownership. The company is expanding its aircraft capabilities through Calvin Boyce’s M1 and M2 certification, allowing support for a wider range of piston and turbine aircraft. New service developments planned for 2026 include pitot-static and altimetry recertification, as well as ELT recertification services. Looking ahead to 2027, Bayside Aero intends to add magneto and alternator inspection and overhaul capabilities.
